This 3 day trip from Fes to Marrakech takes you through the Cedars forest, Atlas mountains, and deserts. Visit kasbahs, ride a camel and stay overnight in a Berber tent. This 3-day is a very popular route as you start your trip in Marrakech and after your Sahara desert safari moves onto Fez – or vice versa. Morocco’s imperial cities and the Sahara desert, icing on the cake on a 3-day tour. Also, please note that Merzouga is located around 9 hours drive from Marrakech or 7 hours’ drive from Fes. So if you this trip is on your mind you will need to allow at least three nights and four days as you will stop overnight on the way there

Today is the first day of our journey, It will start with an early pick-up. Meet your driver in the morning at your hotel or riad and start your journey crossing the High Atlas Mountains towards Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou your most vivid memory from today it will be this UNESCO world heritage site, which, as well as being the best extant example in the area of a walled town protected by Kasbahs, the homes of the wealthy and powerful, has been the backdrop to many Hollywood blockbusters and major historical television programs, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. If you are a fan of A Game of Thrones you will recognize Ait Ben Haddou from the final scene of series three. (The series has used a number of locations around Morocco including Essaouira.) After a guided walk in the village, continue to Ouarzazate for a leisurely lunch. In the early afternoon, travel northeast to Boumalne Dades. After a drive along the Dades River with the marvelous sunset as your backdrop, reach the gorges of Dades. Make a pit stop to enjoy the amazing scenery. Then continue to a hotel where you will dine and rest for the night.
Today you are going to experience one of the most memorable moments of your Morocco adventure as you make your way into the dunes of Morocco’s Erg Chebbi region of the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, the day’s journey along the road of 1001 Kasbas to Tinghir, a beautiful oasis where you will have the opportunity to enjoy an hour-long walk by the river bank all the way to Todgha Gorges. Here you will have some free time to enjoy the scenery before lunch. Early in the afternoon, the walk will lead you to Merzouga where your camel caravan will be waiting for you. From here, ride your camel through the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, while enjoying a mesmerizing sunset. Just before dark, reach your Sahara desert camp nestled between the sand dunes where you will enjoy a Moroccan dinner under the twinkling stars while being entertained by local nomads playing their drums around the campfire.
If you wish to rise with the dawn to watch the sun beginning its daily arc with a cool blue morning sky as it illuminates the desert shadows before becoming a glowing ball of fire then your desert camp hosts will wake you up very early to witness it don’t forget to take iconic photographs for the gram. You’ll return to a local hotel, where a welcome hot shower and breakfast awaits. After breakfast, drive along the Ziz River with its amazing oasis lined with palm trees and fortified Ksours (castles) all the way to Midelt, a small town in the middle of the Atlas Mountains, where you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, continue crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains towards Fes. You will notice a dramatic change in the landscape: snow-capped mountains, cedar forests, and rich vegetation, a complete 180 from the arid and rocky landscapes of the rest of the tour. Your Marrakech to Fes desert tour will end in the early evening and your driver will take you to your riad or hotel in Fes.
