3 days Fes to Merzouga Desert Tour

This is your very first day of the 3 days Fes to Merzouga tour; A long drive but it will unravel the visual wealth of Morocco. You will leave Fez early this morning and head into the Middle Atlas Mountains. You’ll pass through the cedar forests of Ifrane before continuing ahead to the Ziz Valley. In this oasis valley, don’t forget to take iconic photographs. The journey continues to sandblasted Erfoud, famous for fossil products and then to Rissani before preparing for a memorable night under the stars. An hour’s camel ride weaving along the tops of the dunes brings you to your camp, with its Bedouin-style tents and thick Moroccan carpets to keep the sand from between your toes. If it’s summer you’ll probably choose to drift off to sleep while watching the twinkling stars.

Today you are going to experience one of the most memorable moments of your Morocco adventure, It’ll be a remise not to rise with the dawn to watch the sun beginning its daily arc with a cool blue morning sky. Enjoy the beauty of a desert sunrise and the amazing silence of the Sahara. You will then ride your camel back to your accommodation where breakfast will be waiting and a hot shower to freshen you up for the day´s adventure. This is a wonderful time to experience the silence and the changing colors as the sun rises on the dunes. We will pack up and start your Merzouga desert tour exploring all interesting sites around Erg Chebbi dunes such as the seasonal Lake of Merzouga named “Lake Sirji”, Khamlia village for GNAWA music, Mines for a variety of stones called “Mifis” to nomad families ending by a visit to RISSANI Market, the biggest souk in the area. Arriving in the afternoon then free time for the rest of the day before spending the night at a local hotel/ Riad in Merzouga desert.

Today you will say goodbye to the desert and you will surely have sensational memories, leaving to Fes through Erfoud a small town known for carving marble stones and fossils and enjoy the beautiful Ziz valley and palm groves sceneries right up to Midelt another small city known Apple production. You will probably take a short break here if time allows in a restaurant for lunch or in a small town not far away called Zayda. Then continue our way back to Fes toward Azrou cedar forest. Arrival in Fes around 5 – 6 PM drop you off at your accommodation as the 3 days Fes to Merzouga will be coming to an end.
