The dramatic 300 meter-high dunes of Erg Chegaga undulate into infinity like a vast ocean of sand, and this trip is dedicated to fully absorbing the desert experience. It does tend to be less popular than Merzouga and tends to be for the budget traveler or for those that prefer to get off the beaten track.
Your hotel /Riad in Agadir
6/7 am ( depends on which season)
A driver will be waiting for you for an early departure from Agadir marking the first day of the Erg Chegaga experience with an interesting stop to enjoy the old ramparts of Taroudant city. Then continue to Taliouine known as the produced town for Safran. After a few hours of driving, we reach Taznalht for lunch break. Then, via Foum zguid, we will drive across the gravel desert and pass by a Fossil site. Our trip will lead us across the even plane of Lac Iriki, a dried-out lake in a solitary desert landscape glistening white in the sunshine to reach the immense dunes of Erg Chegaga where there are still nomads living with herds of camels today. You will enjoy the rough beauty, the endless vastness, and quietude of the desert. You will experience the constant change of light depending on the position of the sun that turns this archaic countryside into a bizarre dream landscape and where you will enjoy a picturesque sunset, upon the dunes of 300m high and 40km long. You will have dinner and night in a nomad tent or under the starlit in a Bivouac. Little disturbs the silence other than the sound of your feet as you trek among the dunes.
Check into your Riad/Hotel where you will be accommodated with dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast at the camp, you start a day camel trek in the middle of the desert make sure to take iconic photographs. Lunch will be enjoyed under a shadowy tree in a palm tree groves oasis. After lunch and relaxation, you continue another two hours ride before arriving at the Camp. Your dinner and night will have it in the berber desert camp.
Here you will spend your night while watching the twinkling stars, or if you prefer, in a traditional Berber nomad tent.
After enjoying the sunrise and breakfast, prepare yourself for a long drive today that is both diverse and arduous. For three hours you travel off-road through the ‘badlands’ of Erg Chigaga, passing the fifty mile-long dry lake bed of Lac Iriki, made famous by the Paris-Dakar rally. After relaxing in Foum zguid, later on, we will make our way towards Taznakht and then Taliouine for lunch. After a few hour drives, we reach Agadir by the sunset.
The 3days Sahara desert tour from Agadir to Erg Chegaga will be coming to an end! We do truly hope you enjoyed the trip with our team!
