5 Days from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga Desert

Day 1Fez - Atlas Mountains - Tiz'n Talghomt - Errachidia - Merzouga Desert

Pick up from your riad/Hotel in Fes, departure to Sahara desert where the sand see dunes of Erg Chebbi are located. We will pass through the alpine town of Ifrane, then we will visit the cedars forest in Azrou where are the monkeys, drive across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, springs, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages, Midelt for lunch and admire Ziz valley at the panoramic and impressive views over the palm trees, the green valley in the middle of the Sahara., then we continue towards Merzouga where you will have a relaxing night in the hotel, you’ll be fully rested for the next day’s Sahara adventure.

Day 2Explore Merzouga area – Erg Chebbi - Camel Trek and Night at Desert Camp

Today we will explore the desert region and the marvel that is the Erg Chebbi desert dunes, the largest dunes in the desert of Morocco. You’ll have this morning to explore Merzouga before preparing for a memorable night under the stars. We will visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Enjoy the panoramic view behind the Erg Chebbi of sand dunes. Afterward, we will head to the nomad’s families in their tents and having tea with them, absolutely you will discover a new sense of life. In the afternoon, meet your camel, trek through the desert, over the red dunes, until all you see is sand and sky, and the quiet is only broken by the occasional snort of the camels and the soft sound of their steps on the sand. Stop to watch the sunset along the way, to arrive at your camp, After some time to admire the sand dunes and the surrounding landscapes, get ready for a Moroccan dinner served under the stars next to the campfire. After dinner, you will gather around the fire to admire a typical Berber music performed using drums under the sky full of stars.

Day 3Merzouga - Todra Gorge - Dades Gorges

We will Wake up early in the morning to watch the best sunrise of your life and casting different shadows and colors over the sea of sand dunes, before we return back to a local hotel, where a welcome hot shower and breakfast awaits. We will leave Merzouga towards Rissani, which is the largest and the most crowded weekly Market in the South of Morocco, walk to see craft stores, dates market, animal trades ( such as goats, sheep, donkeys, camels and cows ), and Continue our trip to Erfoud famous for its fossilized marbles before we reach the Todra Gorges, the highest oasis valley gorge in Morocco, Watch the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Get to the Gorge and walk under the 300m high red cliff, where many Rock-climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. We’ll drive through the Dades Valley where we will end our day spending the night in a nice hotel located in the heart of the Valley.

Day 4Dades Valley - Roses Valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate

Departure from your Hotel in Dades Valley headed to Ouarzazate, Through the road of Thousand-Kasbah and we will make a stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose’s city” known for roses and its annual festival during the roses harvest in May before to reach the palm groves of Skoura, where absolutely you’ll be impressed with its landscapes, and palm-tree shadows stretch across the road, no one seems in a hurry to leave.45Km further we will arrive at Ouarzazate “the Hollywood of Africa” the town has one of the biggest studios, the homes of the wealthy and powerful have been the backdrop to many Hollywood blockbusters and major historical television programs, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. If you are a fan of A Game of Thrones you will recognize it.

Day 5Ouarzazate - Kasbah Ben Haddou - Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

After breakfast in the hotel, we can visit Taourirt Kasbah. This former Glaoui residence, situated on the edge of the town, is considered to be one of the most beautiful kasbahs of Morocco. After that, we will drive outside the town to enjoy a private visit to the Atlas Corporation Studios. Before we head to the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou,30 kilometers from Ouarzazate. The kasbah is one of the most intriguing red earth castles lining the ancient road of the Kasbahs, and is a UNESCO world heritage site, add to that, the Kasbah has been the backdrop to many historical films, including Lawrence of Arabia, The Last Temptation of Christ, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones. then our Fes Merzouga Desert trip will end by crossing the high Atlas mountains, passing through the Berber town of Taddert and over the 2260 meters high Tizi-in-Tichka pass with stops for panoramic views and taking pictures of the Berber villages and its beautiful landscapes. Before we reach the red city, Marrakech, we drop you off at your hotel/Riad or Airport and end of our services.
